ビデオで見たことがあるのだけど、Sarahのフルヌードなどが載っているのでDVDも購入。しかし、有名になってしまってからもヌードになるような気骨のある歌手っていないなあ。マドンナくらいかな。浜崎あゆみも多分二度と裸にはならないだろうなあ。

関係ないようだけど、Sarahって女臭い。フェロモン出しまくりの気がする。熟しきっている感じ。

Princeが才能のある人間であることは分かる。その才能については★★★★★と思っている。しかし、あの外見がどうにも気持ち悪い。不潔そうで臭そうでゲニョゲニョした風体、妙にクネクネとした動き、やたら格好つけるところ。多分バイなんだろうけど、ともかく気に入らない。映像向きの人物ではない。

それにしても作曲の才能はすごいものがある。

Pasoliniの映像は美しい。ロケ地の選定に凝り、衣装のデザインに凝る。それは良い。ただしテーマの表現という点において、全体の構成によってそれを表現するという点において、彼は能力がない。いや、がさつなのだろう。平たく言えば雑なのだ。音の入れかたにしてもそうだ。映像ときちんと合っていない。映像のつなぎ方もそうだ。

メディアが婚礼の祝いを子ども達に届けさせるシーンが二回も入っているのは何か。一度は姫と父王は焼け死に、もう一度は墜落死している。それだけメディアの恨みが強かったということを表現するためだとしたら、あまりに稚拙である。

僧衣を着た人間たちが何故あんなに体力と技に長けているのか、突然森の中からでてきた機銃の掃射は何なのか、池の水面より高いところまでどうして水が吹き出てくるのか、そもそもなぜ聖書の話になぞらえて殺人をしなきゃいけなかったのか、池からでてきたバラバラ死体は結局誰だったのか(pecheurか)、等々、訳のわからないことだらけ。雰囲気としては面白いものの、謎が解けずに終わってしまう。

Gregg Arakiという監督は同性愛映画で有名らしい。クローズアップが多くて気持ちが悪い。Pasoliniのような芸術性は全くない。青春期の混乱した心の世界を描いてる、ということなのだろうけど駄作。

全体としての構成がいちおうちゃんとしている、というか、最後にオチがついているという意味ではLa Trilogia Della Vitaの中ではいちばんまともかもしれない。主人公と女奴隷の出会いと再会という形で冒頭と結末がつながっている。その間に挟まった話の奔放な逸脱度はDecameronに近いものがある。

ただ、Pasoliniの変態的なエロチシズムの魅力はDecameronが一番だった。このArabian Nightsはちょっとまとも路線を志向してしまったがために面白さを矯める結果となっているようだ。

前作のIl Decameronが良かったので調子にのったPasoliniは古典ベースのこんな作品も作ってみましたとさ。しかし原作がいまひとつだったのか、Pasoliniの映画作りの粗さがもろに出てしまったからか、作品としては数段落ちるものになっている。

Pasoliniという人は全体的構造の構築力が弱い。イメージは良いものがあるし、予算があれば、それを夢のような映像にしたててくれる。しかしカットのつなぎ方に関する映画の基本作法を守っていない。意図せずに守っていないというよりは、理解せずに守っていないように思える。

久々の五つ星。やはりEd Woodはイモだということが確認できる。Pasoliniの足下にひれ伏したまえ。ただ映画を愛する気持ちだけは許してやるけれど。

画家ジョットに扮したPasolini、役者としてもいい味を出している。だが男色行為の恨みからひき殺されてしまう程のワルがあるとも思えない。ちょっと変態チックだけど、人のいいオヤジっぽい。生の三部作を否定したにもかかわらず思想的な内紛で殺されたという陰謀説はあたっているように思える。

現代翻案版のR&J。18,000円でTシャツと写真集と葉書がついたVHSだったのをBook Offで1800円で買った。Tシャツは少し小さかった(^_^;)。

これVeronaを大都市にしてしまったのは失敗だと思う。もっと小さな町にしないと、両家の葛藤がその都市のごく一部のやくざ抗争にしか見えてこない。もっと大きな、町にとって、その将来を左右しかねないような抗争くらいに位置づけた演出が必要だったろう。どっかでちんぴらが喧嘩してるけど、大勢には影響なし、そんな感じになってしまう。

犯人捜しの映画と思いきや、結局のところ怪しくはあっても犯人がいたのかいなかったのかは分からず、主人公が狂気の世界に入り込むのにつきあうことになる。そのあたりなかなかのシナリオであり演出。ちょっとJack Nicholsonの演技にわざとらしさや誇張があるけれど、それを除けばなかなかの作品。
